Jesolo Sand Nativity visitatori in coda per entrare

The Christmas City generates over 10 million in the local economy

The results of a survey and surveys on spending during the holiday season have been integrated.

The series of events and initiatives brought together under the "Christmas City" brand is proving to be a key economic driver for Jesolo. According to a study conducted by the municipal administration, the most recent edition generated an overall estimated economic value of over 10 million euros, calculated by integrating the results of a survey administered to visitors to the Jesolo Sand Nativity with surveys on expenditure and overnight stays in accommodation facilities.

The analysis highlights how the city's Christmas offerings attract a broad and diverse audience, primarily from Veneto (70.2%), followed closely by Friuli Venezia Giulia, Trentino Alto Adige, and Lombardy (total 22.9%). Across national borders, the arrival of predominantly Austrian and German guests was noted. Visitors reported taking part, in addition to the sand sculpture exhibition, in various activities within the municipality, including visits to other Christmas events, enjoying a stroll along the beach, and engaging in entertainment activities. At the same time, visitors highlighted the need for more and better integrated signage for reaching all Christmas attractions.

The data regarding overnight stays is particularly significant: 20% of visitors chose to stay overnight in the city, of which 57.5% stayed for two or more nights. This behavior had positive impacts not only on the hotel industry, but also on restaurants, commerce, and services, generating a multiplier effect on the city's entire economic system. 57% of visitors ate a meal in Jesolo, while 35% purchased souvenirs or went shopping.

The results of the report confirm Jesolo's excellent capacity to attract tourists during the holiday season, as demonstrated by the tourist flow data released by the Veneto Region in recent days, which certify over 51,000 visitors in the month of December alone, a 60% increase compared to a year ago.

"Collecting data is essential for objectively evaluating investments but also for engaging with the city's economic operators," said Jesolo Mayor Christofer De Zotti. "The numbers demonstrate Jesolo's ability to attract visitors even in the winter, providing tangible support to businesses, commerce, and accommodations. There's room for improvement, and as always, this is the direction we're taking. We will continue to invest in quality projects that strengthen Jesolo's identity and create new growth and employment opportunities for the local community."
