The new edition of Jesolo Sand Nativity will begin taking shape on Tuesday, October 14th. The city council has finalized the preparatory work schedule for the sculpture phase, which includes the start of installation on October 14th of the marquee that will once again host Jesolo's famous sand nativity scene behind Piazza Brescia.
Once the large tent has been erected, the sand will be transferred inside and divided into large masses contained in formwork. This will be followed, from October 20th to 31st, by the mechanical compaction phase to solidify the sand accumulations. On November 6th, the large parking area in front of the Pala Turismo will be filled with pure art with the arrival of the sculptors, chosen for this edition as well as among the world's most talented, who will be entrusted with the preparation of the works, which will be in progress until November 18th.
The Jesolo Sand Nativity 2025, now in its 23rd edition, will be inspired by the "Canticle of the Creatures". This year, in fact, marks the 800th anniversary of the composition of the sacred text by Saint Francis of Assisi. The work is a praise of God and his creatures, including the sun, the moon, the stars, but also water, fire, and death. The text introduces and supports a vision of the world based on humility, universal brotherhood, and harmony between man and nature. A world that man shares with all other living beings and of which he is not the owner but rather the custodian. Even today, it is a symbol of Franciscan spirituality and integral ecology. All these characteristics were a source of inspiration for Pope Francis when drafting the encyclical "Laudato si'". The exhibition will draw inspiration from the “Canticle of the Creatures” and will be developed with the support of the Marango monastic community of Caorle.
