Jesolo Sand Nativity 2025 inspired by the Canticle of the Creatures

The 2025 edition of the Jesolo Sand Nativity will be inspired by the "Canticle of the Creatures." Mayor Christofer De Zotti announced the event at the conclusion of the Mass celebrated by Monsignor Beniamino Pizziol, Bishop Emeritus of Vicenza, for the celebration of the city's patron saint, St. John the Baptist.

The "Canticle of the Creatures" is a sacred text by Saint Francis of Assisi, the 800th anniversary of whose composition we celebrate this year. The work is a praise of God and his creatures, including the sun, the moon, the stars, but also water, fire, and death. The text introduces and supports a vision of the world based on humility, universal brotherhood, and harmony between man and nature. A world that man shares with all other living beings and of which he is not the owner but rather the custodian. Even today, it is a symbol of Franciscan spirituality and Christian ecology. All these characteristics were a source of inspiration for Pope Francis when drafting the encyclical "Laudato si'."

The exhibition will draw inspiration from the “Canticle of the Creatures” and will be developed with the support of the Marango monastic community of Caorle.

Christofer De Zotti, Mayor of Jesolo: “The Jesolo Sand Nativity 2025 draws inspiration from the Canticle of the Creatures, a hymn to the beauty of life and the universe. With its sand sculptures, it celebrates nature, brotherhood, and spirituality, values deeply rooted in our community. This special edition aims to be a message of peace and harmony, in a world increasingly in need of rediscovering respect for every creature. I invite everyone to be moved by this unique work, which combines art, faith, and beauty."
